First Commerce Credit Union & Sacred Heart Foundation Introduce #FLAMINGOCHALLENGE To Support Breast Cancer Patients

PANAMA CITY, Fla., Sept. 26, 2025 – First Commerce Credit Union is proud to announce the #FlamingoChallenge fundraiser, benefitting local breast cancer patients, is coming to Bay County in partnership with the Sacred Heart Foundation.

The #FlamingoChallenge is a partnership between First Commerce and the foundations that support hospitals in the North Florida and South Georgia region. Now in its sixth year, the campaign has raised more than $500,000 for local patients served by the hospitals, with the goal of easing the burden of breast cancer treatment.

With the support of the Bay County community, the #FlamingoChallenge can make a positive impact for patients in the area.

“The Flamingo Challenge truly embodies our mission to empower generations and transform communities,” said First Commerce CEO Cecilia Homison. “We are deeply grateful to the individuals and businesses whose generosity powers this fundraiser.”

“We are honored to partner with First Commerce Credit Union on the #FlamingoChallenge, bringing our community together to support local breast cancer patients,” said Adrienne Maygarden, President of the Sacred Heart Foundation. “Together, we are spreading health, hope, and healing, showing patients they are never alone on their journey.”

What is the #FlamingoChallenge?

The #FlamingoChallenge is an annual fundraising event with a twist! The #FlamingoChallenge invites communities to join the flock and support local breast cancer patients during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

When individuals or businesses make a donation at support.givesacredheart.org/flamingo-challenge, they receive a flock of colorful flamingos that can be proudly displayed in front of homes or storefronts.

Organizations can also amplify their impact by pledging a portion of proceeds, rounding up purchases, hosting contests or raffles, or creating unique fundraising events.

Getting the word out helps maximize the #FlamingoChallenge’s impact! The community is invited to post #FlamingoChallenge photos on social media with the hashtag #FlamingoChallenge.

How the #FlamingoChallenge Helps

Funds from the #FlamingoChallenge help cover essential medical and non-medical costs, from life-saving imaging for uninsured patients to travel and lodging expenses for those receiving treatment far from home. Every dollar stays local.

What’s New This Year

Meet Franny the Flamingo, the campaign’s new mascot. Franny brings fresh energy and a playful spirit to this important cause. Also debuting: the Dress-a-Flamingo Contest, where participants style flamingo statues for bragging rights and prizes while raising funds and awareness.

Kickoff Announcement

The public is invited to attend the announcement and kickoff of the #FlamingoChallenge in Bay County during First Commerce Credit Union’s ribbon cutting celebration at its first financial center in Panama City.  The celebration will be on October 2, at 11:00 a.m., at 1022 W. 23rd Street in the Standford Centre.
