The Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce and Road Race Consultants hosted the inaugural Panama City Beach Marathon last Saturday, December 5, at Pier Park. The event included a 26.2-mile marathon that certified as a Boston Qualifier, a 13.1-mile half-marathon, a 5k race, and a kid’s fun run. The race boasted over 1,000 runners from 36 states and 5 countries who came to test their limits while running alongside the beautiful Gulf of Mexico.
We would like to thank all of our volunteers and race sponsors including the Panama City Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau, Centennial Bank, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Innovations Federal Credit Union, Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville, Pier Park, Beachy Beach Real Estate, Resort Collection, Runner’s Edge Race Timing, Culligan, Life Matters, My Massage Clinic, Peach Sports, and DJ Markie Mark for making the Panama City Beach Marathon such a success. “We are thrilled with the results of the race,” Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce President/CEO, Lance Allison, stated. “We achieved our goal of providing a top-notch event that people from all around the world would enjoy. It was satisfying to see the full-fledged marathon come into fruition this year.”
The course began at Pier Park and continued down Front Beach Road, onto Thomas Drive, and then looped back to end at Pier Park. Hundreds of supporters, both visitors and locals, came out to cheer along the runners as they crossed the finish line.
